PROJECT PORTFOLIO
Because communications is a complex business, we are often asked, “But, what
does Axioun really DO?”
Here are some recent projects from the following categories:
STRATEGIC ACTION
Problem:
An electronic commerce software development company with a new CEO needs a
solid business plan for another round of venture capital funding. Quickly!
Solution:
An executive planning group is assembled. As a group, we build a mission
statement, using it to assist us in re-defining our market. Then we spin-off
our mission into a corporate-wide marketshare goal. From this goal we develop
the foundational, support goals for every department: sales & marketing,
customer service, finance, administrative support, and product development.
These support goals are handed off to each division leader, who, with the help
of one executive team member, develops the task and objective detail of the
plan. The parts of the plan are drawn together by a writer who makes sure all
component parts are consistent.
Result:
A corporate-wide business plan completed in six weeks.
Axioun’s role:
Planning facilitator, project administrator, team member.

STRATEGIC MARKETING
Problem:
Quick timeline for a complex e-commerce product launch from a little-known
company in Pennsylvania.
Solution:
PR professionals, each with a different specialty, are brought together to
develop and execute the launch plan (after approval of the preliminary
proposal by corporate board members). Because of the nature of the product, a
highly-visible electronic commerce conference in San Francisco is chosen as
the centerpiece of the launch.
PR meetings with industry journalist are held on-site during the conference
and off-site meetings with analysts are pre-scheduled. A cocktail and hors
d’oeuvres reception is held to give company decision-makers a chance to meet
other business leaders in the field.
Result:
New logo and marketing materials developed; front-page article in
CommunicationsWeek (now InternetWeek) concurrent with the conference;
comprehensive local coverage; ten+ meetings with key journalists (several
follow-up stories result); four West Coast analyst meetings; and five
additional East Coast analyst meetings take place.
Additionally, we took advantage of the gathering of e-commerce attendees to
conduct two on-site focus groups about the product.
Axioun’s role:
Team-member, point-person for SF conference and contacts, analyst-PR.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND TRAINING DESIGN
Problem:
Start-from-scratch training needed for temporary employees who will be
conducting all administrative functions for a PCS wireless phone launch at the
Republican National Convention in San Diego. Axioun is hired as a
subcontractor to consultants working with the client. Two months until launch.
Solution:
An Axioun team with technical training design, training delivery, and project
management specialists is brought together. Contractor and subcontractor
relationships are tricky: we have to dig to discover exactly what has been
done by whom and what still needs to be done. Coordinating efforts between the
various client employees and the temporary employees, in two teams in Northern
and Southern California, is a large part of the project.
Result:
We developed a comprehensive workbook and delivered five days of technical and
customer service training for twenty-five people.
Additionally, as follow-up, a communications system for on-site trouble-
shooting was developed and executed during the convention.
Axioun’s role:
Identified and hired project team members, managed the on-going project,
provided training design and delivery coaching, developed and executed an on-
site trouble-shooting communications system during the convention.

SMALL BUSINESS COACHING
Problem:
A somatic counselor and body-worker resolves to increase marketing efforts;
yet, like most small business owners, she operates under budget and time
constraints.
Solution:
We have developed a process that includes a monthly two-hour meeting in which
we discuss last month’s goals and establish those for the coming months. In
addition, we stay in touch by phone or fax on specific projects as needed.
Our meetings are wide-ranging and have included topics as diverse as how to
prioritize tasks, which accounting software to use, and how to build a client
database.
Result:
In six months we have completed the development of a new product brochure;
conceptualized a family of marketing materials; clarified business identity;
and resurrected a book publishing project.
Axioun’s role:
Business coach, marketing consultant, conceptual guide, editor.
