1974 - 1980 HAWAII PREPARATORY ACADEMY
Kamuela, Hawaii

English Department Chairman: Responsible for curriculum development and department admin-is-tra-tion for 6-person English department at private boarding school, grades 9–12, student body of 800. Also taught Advanced Placement English, literature, composition classes, directed the choir, and served as residential director for the girls' dormitory. Redesigned the upper- division English curricula from a grade-level to a skills-based class structure. Developed placement testing and procedures for incoming freshmen.

Arts Liaison: Administered arts lecture series, handled publicity, protocol and public relations for nationally-known poets and writers including Marvin Bell, Leonard Michaels, Maxine Hong Kingston, and John Unterecker.
